On May 10, the Klickitat County Commissioners enacted an outdoor burn ban within unincorporated areas of Klickitat County. The burn ban runs from June 1 through September 30, 2016, the time the county will be most susceptible to wildfire according to evaluations done by the Klickitat County Interagency Fire Association. If fire conditions continue to be hazardous in the Fall, the burn ban may be extended into October.
The County burn ban does list some exceptions. It allows for the use of residential barbecues, although users should pay extra attention to placing and operating them safely to avoid accidental fires.
