Don’t miss the Summer At Your Library Launch Party
June 12 at 2:30pm
Goldendale Community Library
It’s sure to be a blast as we as we launch into Summer At Your Library. You can sign-up for summer reading, participate in a craft or activity, and enjoy some light refreshments.
Since the 1890s public libraries have hosted summer reading programs across the nation. Summer reading has been a way for libraries to help prevent a decline in reading levels over the summer, as well as to better engage with our younger patrons.
Since the pandemic, literacy levels have decreased across the nation, reinforcing the need to encourage our younger generations to build a love of reading and lifelong learning. For our Summer At Your Library program this year, we’ll be once again hosting a reading challenge that can be tracked online or in person at your local library or bookmobile. Check out www.fvrl.org/summer-reading for more information and a schedule of presenters and events this summer.
Click here for the bookmobile schedule and here for Goldendale Library’s summer events.
Just in time for the next snowfall, the Winter edition of the High Prairian is out for you cozy afternoon fireside reading pleasure.
